Code of Conduct

Our Pledge

Bodhya is a platform for collaboration, learning, and building free and open communities for students and professionals in Bihar and beyond. We are committed to making participation in all Bodhya spaces — events, online forums, social media, Telegram channels, and GitHub — a welcoming experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices.

We expect all participants to help us maintain a safe, respectful, and productive environment.

Expected Behavior

All participants are expected to:

  • Be welcoming, kind, and respectful in all interactions
  • Listen actively and consider perspectives different from your own
  • Give and receive constructive feedback gracefully
  • Show empathy toward other community members
  • Focus on what is best for the community
  • Use inclusive language

Unacceptable Behavior

The following behaviors are not tolerated in any Bodhya space, online or offline:

  • Harassment of any kind, including offensive verbal or non-verbal comments related to gender, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, or religion
  • Sexual language or imagery in talks, workshops, online media, or other event spaces
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
  • Harassing photography or recording without consent
  • Sustained disruption of presentations or discussions
  • Inappropriate physical contact or unwelcome sexual attention
  • Publishing others' private information without consent

Participants asked to stop unacceptable behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all Bodhya-organized or Bodhya-affiliated spaces, including:

  • In-person events and workshops
  • Online events and webinars
  • Community forums, and WhatsApp communities
  • Bodhya's GitHub repositories and issue trackers
  • Social media interactions in Bodhya-managed accounts

It applies to all attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, organizers, and Bodhya staff.

Because our events are hosted under FOSS United, the FOSS United Code of Conduct applies at them as well. Where both apply, whichever is stricter governs — neither reduces your protections under the other.

Reporting

If you are being harassed, witness harassment, or observe a violation of this Code of Conduct, please report it immediately:

All reporters will remain anonymous. We will respond to reports within 48 hours.

Reporting at events

Bodhya's events are organised and hosted under FOSS United, so the FOSS United Code of Conduct applies at them in addition to this one. You may report to either team — or both — and you do not have to decide which is "correct" before speaking up.

Reports to FOSS United remain anonymous on request. Where an incident occurs at a FOSS United event, their team may take any action they consider appropriate, including a formal warning or expulsion from the event.

Enforcement

Bodhya organizers will investigate all reports and take action proportionate to the violation:

  1. Warning — a private written warning with an explanation of the violation
  2. Temporary ban — temporary suspension from Bodhya spaces for a defined period
  3. Permanent ban — permanent removal from all Bodhya spaces

The Bodhya team's decisions are final.
